Welcome to Malaysia
"Malaysia is blessed with rich natural beauty and vast bio-
resources. However, we must remember that the beauty and splendor of our environment can be
lost in the blink of an eye. As such, we need to treasure God's gift to us and make every
effort to protect our natural environment for the benefit and enjoyment of present and future
generations. In line with this , Malaysia determined to gear the country towards the
realization of being the Most Beautiful and advanced Garden Nation by the year 2020. I would
like to call upon each and every one of us, as the inhabitants of this world, to love and
preserve our natural environment. Let's try and make the world a better place to live,
without depriving our younger generation the same privileges that we are currently
enjoying."
Dato' Seri Ong Ka Ting
Minister of Housing & Local Government, Malaysia
IFLA World Welcomes You
Landscape Architects have the knowledge and design skills to plan and manage landscapes. As stewards, it is our responsibility to protect, conserve and enhance those landscapes. Whether we are dealing with massive devastation causes by natural impacts, or with the design of tiny but much loved spaces, we must use our knowledge, in collaboration with other professions, to benefit people and places.
The 44th IFLA2007 World Congress in Malaysia will provide us with additional skills, inspiration and examples so that we in turn can contribute to Edening the Earth. I welcome all landscape architects and colleagues to this Congress. Come to Malaysia and help to make the 44th IFLA2007 World Congress memorable.

President,
International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA)
Welcome to IFLA2007
"Selamat Datang and warm welcome to all participants of the 44th
IFLA 2007 World Congress in Kuala Lumpur. Malaysia is proud to host the 44th World Congress
and we are delighted to showcase Kuala Lumpur, our "Sustainable Tropical Garden City and
Putrajaya, our 'Intelligent Garden City". The theme for the congress is 'EDENing THE EARTH. It
is very timely and appropriate for us to deliberate on this subject as parks and greeneries
play a major role in fostering community interaction besides being able to create a strong
sense of belonging within a beautiful, safe, quality and productive living environment. This
congress will also offer the opportunity for all the participants to keep updated about all
current research and experimental work as well as latest trends and technologies in landscape
development. The months of August through September are important months for Malaysia as we
celebrate our 'Golden Jubilee National Celebration - Anniversary of our independence. Witness
first hand Malaysia's diverse culture heritage in this memorable colorful parade. We look
forward to welcome you."
